The aim of the course is to provide course learners with the requisite WAH knowledge so that they can perform their WAH activities properly and safely. 

At the end of the course, the learners shall be able to: 

  • Identify relevant Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) legislations / approved codes of practice / Singapore standards applicable to WAH and roles and responsibilities 

  • Identify WAH hazards and preventive measures related to WAH 

  • Demonstrate the understanding of use and care for the various fall arrest systems and equipment


The learner who passes this course is deemed competent in Work at Heights only and this course does not replace other industry / trade specific safety training requirements.

Course Duration: 
7.5 Hours inclusive of 1.5 hours assessment

Assessment Method:
Written test and practical performance

Learners who have successfully completed the course will be conferred a safety pass issued by Smatra Training Hub. 

Work At Height Course for Workers

The SOC (Tunneling) is a recognized WSH training course for all workers carrying out tunneling works in buildings and engineering construction worksites.

Learning objectives: 
• Understand general safety in Tunnelling Works 
• Identify hazards working in a Tunnel 
• Practice safety procedures when operating Tunnelling Equipment and Machinery 
• Able to work safely in Confined Spaces 
• Practice safety procedure when doing Hot Work and working in Compressed Air 
• Competent in wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 
• Know the dangers and precautionary measures associated with Tunnelling Works

Pre-requisite:
Workers must have completed and passed CSOC to be eligible to attend this course. 

Course Duration: 
4 Hours inclusive of 15 minutes assessment

Assessment Method:
Written test (MCQ)

Learners who have successfully completed the course will be conferred a safety pass issued by Smatra Training Hub.

Safety Orientation Course for Tunneling (Workers)

This course is designed for all workers working in the shipbuilding and ship repairing industry.

Learning objectives: 

  • Understand legal obligations in workplace safety and health

  • Identify hazards in a shipyard

  • Recognize all types of industrial safety signs

  • Understand application process for safety permit prior to hot work

  • Competent in wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Know and take safety precautions when working with different hazards

  • Able to respond in case of fire or emergency


Course Duration: 
8 Hours inclusive of 1 hour assessment

Assessment Method:
Written test (MCQ)

Learners who have successfully completed the course will be conferred a safety pass issued by Smatra Training Hub.

Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (General Trade)

This course is designed for all workers working in the shipbuilding and ship repairing industry.

Learning objectives: 

  • Introduction to Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (Hot-Work Trade)

  • Know the different types of Hot-work

  • Know characteristics of flammable substances

  • Understand how vapours/ gases can accumulate in confined spaces

  • Understand how fires/ explosions are caused

  • Understand case studies on two shipyard fire and explosion accidents

  • Know and take safety measures for preventing fire/ explosions

 

Pre-requisite:
The learner must have completed and passed the Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (General Trade) to be eligible to attend this course.


Course Duration: 
2.5 Hours inclusive of 10 minutes assessment

Assessment Method:
Written test (MCQ)

Learners who have successfully completed the course will be conferred a safety pass issued by Smatra Training Hub.

Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (Hot-work Trade)

This course is designed for all workers working in the shipbuilding and ship repairing industry.

Learning objectives: 

  • ​Introduction to Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (Painters Trade)

  • Understand fire and explosion hazards & safety measures

  • Understand airless spraying hazards and safety measures

  • Understand health hazards and preventive measures

  • Know the proper usage of Personal protective equipment

  • Understand safe storage of paints and solvents on board vessels

  • Know Vessel Safety Coordination Committee (VSCC) Meetings

  • Understand Permit-to-work system – Application for a painting permit

  • Know Worker’s safety checklist for painting works

The learner must have completed and passed the Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (General Trade) to be eligible to attend this course
